Corken T291-103 Botanical Oil Extraction Compressor
Corken T291 Botanical Oil Extraction Compressor Botanical Oil Extraction Using a Reciprocating Compressor/Vapor Recovery PumpAs a leading manufacturer of industrial pump and gas compression solutions for the LPG, petrochemical, chemical, and gas processing industries, Corken specializes in liquefied gas transfer and vapor recovery. One of Corken’s more recent vapor recovery applications involves botanical oil extraction. Plant compounds/substances have provided nutritional and medicinal benefits since the beginning of time. As scientists learned more about the healing properties of various plant materials, they began using botanical oil extraction to separate the desired components on a large scale.More recently, botanical extraction is a growing opportunity. Desirable compounds and terpenes are separated from the rest of the plant using hydrocarbon extraction. Other forms of extraction include ethanol and carbon dioxide (CO2); however, hydrocarbon is a more widely used since it’s more efficient and cost effective. Regulatory ComplianceGood Manufacturing Practice (GMP), European Union ATEX Directive, European Union Machinery Directive, ISO 9001 Standard on Quality Management Systems, and ISO 14001 Standard on Environmental Management Systems. Technical Literature: Application Bulletin Technical Specifications Service Bulletin Hydrocarbon Extraction Has Four Primary Steps: Step One (Washing): A cold solvent made of propane or butane-washes over the plant material (biomass) at a low temperature and pressure. This process removes the desired material and terpenes from the biomass and dissolves them into the liquid solvent. Step Two (Removing the Impurities): This step removes any waxes and lipids left in the solution. Unlike ethanol extraction that requires a day-long winterization process, hydrocarbon extraction has fewer waxes and lipids so the removal process is easier and does not take as much time. In most closed loop systems, a de-waxing column filters out any of the remaining waxes and lipids. Step Three (Collection): The filtered solvent solution is collected into a new or separate container and the hydrocarbon solvent (propane, butane, or propane butane mix) is purged. Corken’s gas compressors (also known as recovery pump) remove the vapor formed by the solvent solution within the collection tank and returns it to the supply tank so it can be re-circulated. Step Four (Purification): Depending on the desired final state of the product, a purification process may be necessary. Various methods such as a vacuum purge, centrifugal, and co-solvent separation are used to further refine the product. Botancial Oil Extraction Using a Reciprocating Compressor/Vapor Recovery Pump The Corken T-Style reciprocating gas compressor is oil free so there is no contamination of the process gas stream. A T-Style compressor has three sets of packing between the crankcase and compression chamber. Listed below are some of the features and benefits: PTFE trim and nickel coated parts: Compatible with food grade materials Faster recovery time: Allows more production runs Zero psig evacuation pressure: Minimizes waste Self-lubricating PTFE piston rings: Low friction design provides many hours of trouble-free service Quiet operation: Suitable for indoor applications (approximately 85 dBa at three feet)Air compressor is not required: Space saving Adjustable packing screw: Extends life of the packing Cost effective: Does not require air compressor and pneumatic driver. Avoid possible air/propane cross contamination Motor: UL and CSA compliant and suitable for Class 1, Division 1, Group C & D application Optional purge kit available (Compatible with the 07-01-06 U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Regulations 40 CFR CH Section 264.1053) Power Requirements Phase 3Ø Voltage 230/460 VAC Motor Power 10 HP Motor Speed 1800 RPM Motor Frequency 60 Hz

Edwards E2M80 57 CFM Dual-Stage High Capacity Vacuum Pump
Edwards E2M80 57 CFM Dual-Stage High Capacity Vacuum Pump Brand new Edwards E2M80 high capacity vacuum pump with one year manufacturer warranty from Edwards. https://shop.edwardsvacuum.com/products/a36504940/view.aspx Overview Edwards E2M series two stage oil sealed rotary vane vacuum pumps are renowned for their high ultimate vacuum, rapid pumping speeds, quiet operation and ability to handle water vapour. These direct drive rotary vane pumps are inherently compact and vibration free, and with their finger-proof fan and coupling housings they offer excellent operator protection.A comprehensive range of accessories is available to allow use on a wide variety of vacuum applications.Supplied with Ultragrade 70 Oil. Fomblin must be purchased separately for PFPE prepared pumps E2MFX. Technology Reliable system protection devices: Every pump has protection devices to prevent oil and air suck-back into the vacuum system if the pump stops while under vacuum. A variety of protection devices are used, depending on the pump size and cost, but emphasis is always placed on reliability and simplicity. When you use gas ballast on some of the pumps, you must use a solenoid operated gas ballast control valve to prevent air suck-back.Positive Pressure Oil Lubrication: The EM pumps incorporate a well proven positive pressure oil lubrication system which as been developed by Edwards to ensure correct lubrication in all duty modes and particularly to prevent oil starvation with high gas loads. An integral oil pump ensures that a more than adequate oil flow is pumped throughout the stator/rotor assembly at all times. This oil lubrication system means that the level of oil in the reservoir is less critical than with other pump designs. All pumps can operate with oil levels as low as 50-70 of the maximum. A full length, easily visible oil level sight glass allows you to conveniently monitor the oil level.Gas Ballast Facility: The EM pumps have a gas ballast valve. The valve is used to introduce a suitable gas into the stator during the compression stage: this prevents condensation of vapors inside the pump, dilutes and ejects corrosive gases and purges the oil of gases and vapors. Therefore, the use of gas ballast reduces oil degradation and pump corrosion.Low Noise Levels: The EM pumps maintain Edwardss reputation for quiet operation pumps with a typical noise level of 70 dB(A).Pumping Systems: The EM pumps, with suitable accessories, can partner a variety of other types of pump in vacuum systems for industry and for research. A special feature of the E2M80 is the central vacuum inlet which enables you to fit a mechanical booster pump with a minimum overhang, to create compact combination pumping systems.Easy Maintenance: The advanced lubrication system allows the EM pumps to work with wide oil level tolerances, which reduce the need to top-up the oil.All EM pumps are constructed with internal dowels, which reduce the need for skilled setting of tolerances, when the pump is dismantled. The pumps are designed so that all key components are easily accessible. The exhaust valve seals and oil distributor seals are exposed after the top cover is removed. The shaft seal can be replaced quickly without stripping down the pump. Applications Vacuum metallurgy processes Thin film coating technologies Pharmaceutical freeze drying Refrigeration and air conditioning system evacuation, drying, and backfilling Transformer and cable drying and impregnation, insulating oil treatment plant Lamp manufacture Cryogenic vessel evacuation Vacuum drying and distillation in chemical industries Semiconductor device manufacture Backing pump for high vacuum applications

The Prodigy
THE PRODIGY Description: 24CFM Single Stage 7.5HP 220V – 3 Phase (Single Phase Inverters Available) Inlet: 1.5” Triclamp Outlet: 1.5” Triclamp Weight: 750lbs Max bearing pressure: 250psi Max discharge pressure: 150psi Max delta pressure: 10x Many factors go into the rate of recovery on an extraction system. Not only is the pump size important, but also the evaporation rate of the solvents. If the solvents aren’t able to evaporate fast enough there will be nothing for the pump to transfer. Larger pumps have the capacity to transfer solvents faster, but only if the solvents are in an evaporated state. Because these pumps are so large they have a tendency to outpace the evaporation rate of most extraction systems. This lowers the inlet pressure (and the collection vessel pressures) which aids in speeding up the evaporation rate. Propane weighs less per gallon than butane (4.2 vs 4.9), however the vapor pressure is higher which generally results in a higher inlet pressure, and therefor a faster recovery per pound of gas used. These pumps are sized large enough to recover on the largest extraction systems with the highest evaporation rates, or can be used on multiple extraction systems at one time. For example this pump was used to recover 5lbs of butane on a 6” vessel with 70° of temperature. The process took ~12 minutes. However increasing the process to 3x 6” vessels with 5lbs of butane each(15lbs total), the process also took ~12 minutes. This is because the pump exceeds the evaporation rate of a single 6” column at 70° by more than 3x. Because the pump exceeds the evaporation rate a vacuum is pulled against the collection vessel, which in turn speeds up the evaporation rate. However once vacuum equilibrium is achieved, increasing the pump size will not speed up the process, but will allow for larger (or multiple) processes to be preformed in the same time frame. The next tab shows a table of recovery capacity with regards to inlet pressures. Higher inlet pressures result in substantially faster recovery times. Higher inlet pressures can be achieved by evaporating solvents faster by higher temperatures in collection vessels, or more surface area in collection vessels (larger diameter vessels, falling film, etc). The Prophet
The Prophet The Prophet is the industries largest and fastest LPG recovery pump. This mammoth pumps at 28 cfm (3.33x the size of a Corken T91) while running quietly at only 68db. Unlike the other recovery pumps available on the market this pump features a dual stage design which allows for greater delta pressure between the inlet and outlet of the pump. This allows for higher output pressures (propane) and lower inlet pressures (vacuum). The ability to pull vacuum against the inlet lowers the boiling point of the recovering solvents allowing them to vaporize faster, speeding up your recovery times. In addition, this pump can be used to pull initial vacuum in the extraction system. 28CFM Dual Stage 10HP Inlet: 1.5” Triclamp Outlet: 1.5” Triclamp Weight: 865lbs Max bearing pressure: 250psi Max discharge pressure: 150psi Max delta pressure: 10x Many factors go into the rate of recovery on an extraction system. Higher inlet pressures can be achieved by evaporating solvents faster by higher temperatures in collection vessels, or more surface area in collection vessels (larger diameter vessels, falling, etc).
