Cactus Juice Cactus Juice Stabilizing Resin for Woodworking
Cactus Juice Wood Stabilizing Resin Cactus Juice Stabilizing Resin is the original premium professional grade heat cured resin for stabilizing and hardening wood and other porous material. This makes the wood harder, and much more resistant to moisture. It is especially effective on those beautiful, punky, spalted woods that are just too soft to work with! Cactus Juice is easy to use and does not significantly change the color of most woods. It is NOT solvent-based and cures 99.99% from liquid to solid by weight, far superior to typical home stabilizing solutions such as Minwax Wood Hardener or polyurethane. Stop throwing away those punky blanks and give Cactus Juice a try! Cactus Juice MSDS Key Benefits: Stabilizes and hardens soft woods Minimal color change Lasts for months Reuse again and again Non-flammable Sizes Available: Pint Cactus Juice - Ready To Use 1 Quart Cactus Juice - Ready To Use 1/2 Gallon Cactus Juice - Activator Included 1 Gallon Cactus Juice - Activator Included UNCURED PROPERTIES Composition/type: methacrylate ester monomersAppearance/Color: translucent, very light amber liquidViscosity @25ºC : 4-6 cpsSpecific Gravity: 1.03Flash Point: >200ºFVapor Pressure: Less than 5mm Hg at 72° FFlorescence: No CURED PROPERTIES Appearance: hard, translucent, plasticHardness Shore D (ASTM D2240): 80-85 CURING METHOD Cactus Juice is heat cured at temperatures between 80ºC -96ºC, (177º F -205º F ). Cactus Juice cures when the temperature of the resin within the blank reaches 90º C for 6-8 minutes. The typical small shop method for curing is in a counter top toaster oven until internal blank temperature reaches the cure temperature for 10 minutes or more. This usually take 1-1.5 hours for a typical small batch of 10 pen blanks. Blanks with large cross section areas or larger batches of blanks may require longer processing times to achieve the required cure temperature. SERVICE TEMPERATURE RANGE Cactus Juice is formulated from the highest quality monomers to maximize the service operating range of the polymer. Cactus Juice is recommended for continuous service from –54ºC, (-65ºF) to 189ºC, (372ºF). STORAGE Activated Cactus Juice is easy to store and will exhibit an approximately 12 month shelf life under proper storage conditions. The resin should be stored in its original container and away from direct sunlight or other sources of UV light. Storage temperatures should be maintained below 29ºC (85ºF). Storage in a refrigerator is recommended. HANDLING ALL CHEMICALS SHOULD BE HANDLED WITH CARE!.Cactus Juice resin can be safely handled using normally accepted practices for handling non-toxic industrial chemicals. Rubber gloves should be worn when handling liquid Cactus Juice. Avoid excessive skin contact and wash thoroughly with water and mild soap if contact occurs. If dermatitis occurs, seek medical attention and avoid further exposure. Avoid accidental contact with the eyes by using safety glasses. If accidental contact with the eyes should occur, flush immediately with copious amounts of clean water and obtain medical attention as necessary. WASTE TREATMENT Cured Cactus Juice is inert and can be disposed of as ordinary industrial trash. Uncured resin should be cured before disposal. Caffeine is a natural stimulant most commonly found in coffee, tea, and certain plants like cacao. It works by stimulating the brain and central nervous system, helping to reduce fatigue and enhance alertness and focus. Chemically classified as a psychoactive drug, caffeine blocks the action of adenosine, a neurotransmitter that promotes relaxation and sleepiness. In addition to its natural sources, caffeine is also added to many soft drinks, energy drinks, and over-the-counter medications. As the world's most widely consumed psychoactive substance, moderate consumption of caffeine has been linked to various health benefits, including improved cognitive function and mood. However, excessive intake can lead to side effects such as insomnia, jitteriness, and increased heart rate. How Much Caffeine is found in coffee, tea, soda, & etc? Coffee drinks Size in oz. QTests Cannabis QTest
Cannabis QTest Know Your Dose with the Cannabis QTest The Cannabis QTest is a single-use cannabis test kit that can quickly and easily tell you the percentage of THC and CBD in cannabis flower or buds. You can test as much cannabis as you like, but you need to finely chop and mix it first (or grind it up in a coffee grinder). After you homogenize your material this way, the result of your test will then apply to the all rest of your cannabis. Simply follow the instructions and compare the color of the detection vial to the enclosed color chart. It’s that simple. Instructions Note: A paper version of these instructions comes with your order. IMPORTANT INFORMATION! – READ THIS FIRST • Use this kit at room temperature. (If stored in a refrigerator, let it warm up for one hour first.)• Perform the test on a flat surface during the daytime.• Evaluate the result in daylight immediately after the 10-minute development time. (The color can change if you wait too long.)• Use a white, letter-sized sheet of paper as a background when evaluating the color. (See section four for evaluation details.)• Read all the instructions at least once through before beginning the test. 1. IMPORTANT BACKGROUND INFORMATION This test kit can be used to detect the concentration of active ingredients THC and CBD in cannabis flower. The kit will not work with concentrated extracts, gummies, chocolates, brownies or other edibles. 2. PREPARING FOR THE TEST Take out all the items from your kit. Along with these instructions, you should have: • protective gloves• plastic dropper bottle with green cap (for determining CBD concentration)• glass vial with red lid containing dry crystals (for determining THC concentration)• plastic blister with twist-and-tear-off tip containing developer solution You will also need a milligram scale and either a small funnel or a creased piece of paper to carefully pour the flower material into the plastic extraction bottle. (You can make your own paper funnel. Google it!) Note: If you are testing cannabis flower (buds), you need to homogenize the material before you perform the test. A coffee grinder works best. If you do not have a coffee grinder then you can chop your material finely on a cutting board using a sharp knife. Then mix the chopped material thoroughly. You will be using 20 milligrams (mg) of material for the test. The result will tell you the percentage of THC and CBD in all the remaining cannabis that you honogenized. 3. PERFORMING THE TEST 3.1 First put on the enclosed nitrile gloves and wear appropriate protective clothing and safety glasses. If you wear contact lenses, remove them. The ingredients contain acids which may cause skin irritation or severe eye damage. In the event you come in contact with the ingredients (liquid or dry), remove the affected clothing immediately and rinse the affected skin area with water for several minutes. In case of eye contact, rinse the affected eye with running water for several minutes. (Keep pets, especially cats, away from the testing area.) 3.2 Carefully weigh 20 mg (0.20 g) of your homogenized cannabis using a milligram scale. 3.3 To determine the concentration of CBD in your sample, open the plastic dropper bottle with the green cap (by turning the white part of the cap). Carefully pour the 20 mg of homogenized cannabis flower (or the proportionally lesser amount of concentrated extract) into the bottle using a funnel or a creased piece of paper, then put the lid back on and close it tightly. Next, shake the bottle well for about 12 to 20 seconds, then set it down to rest for 10 minutes. During the resting period, repeat the shaking process two more times; once at about the 3-minute mark, and again at about the 7-minute mark. Each time you set the bottle down to rest, make sure the cannabis material remains inside the liquid. (If you see material stuck in the upper section of the bottle, one or two quick shakes with the bottle in a vertical position will usually rinse it all back down.) After 10 minutes, evaluate the results immediately. If CBD is present, the detection liquid will be a shade of purple. Use the left side of the enclosed color chart to determine the CBD content. For details, see section 4 below, “EVALUATING THE RESULT.” Then come back to this section to perform the THC part of the test. IMPORTANT! – Evaluate the CBD content immediately after the 10-minute mark. You have about three minutes. The liquid will continue to change color after this time and falsify the result. 3.4 To determine the concentration of THC in your sample, open the small glass vial with the red lid. Then remove the green cap from the plastic dropper bottle you just used (not the white part this time, just the green tip) and add 10 drops to the vial. Next you are going to twist and tear off the top of the plastic blister (to open it) and add 5 drops of the liquid into the vial also. IMPORTANT – Before you open the blister, make sure the liquid inside is congregated at the bottom. Otherwise it can spill out when you tear it open. If you see liquid near the top (near the tear point), just shake it a little or tap it on a table so the liquid drops down to the bottom. Then it is safe to twist and tear off the top. After adding five drops of liquid from the blister, put the red lid back on the glass vial and close it tightly, then gently move the vial from side to side to mix the ingredients. 3.5 The liquid in the glass vial will change color almost immediately (within 10 seconds). Use the right side of the enclosed color chart to determine the THC content of your material. See section 4 below for details. 4. EVALUATING THE RESULT Follow the instructions above before evaluating the result. EVALUATING THE CBD CONTENT (THE PLASTIC BOTTLE WITH THE GREEN LID) The detection reagent in the plastic dropper bottle will not change color in the presence of THC, but only in the presence of CBD. Use the left side of the color chart and the “SPECIFIC EVALUATION INSTRUCTIONS” below to determine the concentration. EVALUATING THE THC CONTENT (THE SMALL GLASS VIAL WITH THE RED LID) If there is THC in the material, the liquid in the small vial will turn purple. Use the right side of the color chart and the “SPECIFIC EVALUATION INSTRUCTIONS” below to determine the concentration. If there is no THC but there is CBD, the liquid in the small vial will turn orange. If there is neither THC nor CBD, the liquid in the small vial won’t change color (or will turn slightly gray). SPECIFIC EVALUATION INSTRUCTIONS By comparing the intensity or saturation of the liquid in the vial with the enclosed color chart, you can determine the result visually. Daytime sunlight is best suited for optimal evaluation. If using artificial light, the influence of different color temperatures may slightly change the hue. You can still perform the evaluation, but you should take this into account (e.g. high blue content in energy-saving lamps, green discoloration when using LED light from cell phones, etc). • Use a white, letter-sized sheet of paper as a background.• In daylight or under bright light, hold the glass vial next to the color chart about six to eight inches in front of the white sheet of paper and look through the glass vial head on. For best results, your eyes should be fairly close to the vial, but no closer than about six to eight inches.• Now compare the color of the liquid in the vial to the color chart. The corresponding concentration of THC and CBD is listed as a percentage. • This concentration applies to your remaining homogenized cannabis. • Do not evaluate the liquid after four hours. At this time the color may no longer be reliable. 5. STORAGE AND SHELF LIFE Store the reagents in the refrigerator (35° – 46° F) and out of direct sunlight for a shelf life of at least 18 months. 6. WARNINGS • Keep the kit away from children and animals.• When performing the test, wear suitable protective gloves, clothing and face/eye protection. If you wear contact lenses, remove them before using the test kit.• The liquids contained in the test kit consist of various acids which may cause a corrosive/irritating effect on the skin or severe eye damage/irritation. Avoid contact with the skin, eyes, mouth or clothing.• Should contact with the above listed areas occur, remove the relevant clothing immediately. Instantly rinse the affected skin areas with water for several minutes. In case of contact with the eyes, immediately rinse them with water for several minutes using both hands to keep the upper and lower eyelids open.• Substances processed with the test kit are not to be consumed! 7. DISCLAIMERS • QTests are only to be used for the detection and quantification of unknown substances.• The result may not be 100% accurate. Your sample could be adulterated with one or more unknown substances that cross-react with the reagents, affecting the quantitative result.• The result does not mean your sample is safe to consume. It could still contain unwanted substances and impurities that can be harmful or even deadly.• The Cannabis QTest is not a substitute for laboratory analysis.• miraculix and/or Qtests.org assume no responsibility for the use or misuse of the test kit or the results. 7. DISPOSAL OF MATERIALS Check your local regulations for proper disposal of acids.

Its carefully engineered pore structure and granular stability allow for controlled removal of specific compounds while preserving desired characteristics of the process stream. Key Features: Micron Size 250-595um Attapulgite granular media, alkaline medium Easy handling, fast flow, color improvement General product improvement with high contaminant absorptivity Color Remediation In-Line Filtration Hot Scrub Recirculate Granular Media FAQ: How do I use granular media? Zeolite adsorbents can be used inline during extraction with LPG solvents or in a hot scrub with non-polar solvents of higher BP like Heptane Is this a replacement for powders? The answer depends on what your processing goals are e.g. color removal, pesticide remediation, etc. Each adsorbent for filtration media will have its own unique set of properties including pH, pore size, polarity, surface area that make certain adsorbents more suitable to certain uses. Can I mix granular media and powders? Yes, you can either mix powders with granular media or place the granular media on top a bed of powdered media. This will however result in a more restricted flow which will require additional pressure to pass your solution through your filter cake. Do I need to bake the media? Media does not need to be baked prior to use but can be only superficial water will be removed which may improve performance. To remove superficial moisture, bake for 8hrs at 200C (392F) How do I know how much media to use? This will depend on a few variables such as the amount of your starting material, the age of your starting material, and desired color of your final product. How does the media need to be stored? before and after use. Before use; Keep container tightly closed and dry; store in a cool place. After use; Store in a well-ventilated area, this media is saturated with flammable/explosive solvent and can self-ignite if not not handled properly. Is the media safe to handle without PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)? Breathing must be protected when large quantities are decanted without local exhaust ventilation. When workers face exposure to dust exceeding the occupational exposure limits they must use appropriate certified respirators. Wear a NIOSH-certified (or equivalent) particulate respirator. What micron size filters are required? / The media is larger but are there fines? The media might be large but there are fine dust particles (about 5 million per lb.) that can get carried away in your solution and require separation. We suggest stacking a 5-micron filter on top of a 1-micron filter which will help keep your flow slow as well as filtering out any fine dust particles. The media didn't work, what did I do wrong? There is an exceptionally good chance you did not restrict your solvent flow enough. Try again with a much slower flow through your filter. Another variable you might consider adjusting is solvent temperature. Colder solvent will pull less lipids and waxes which can impede the efficiency of the adsorbent. Note: Bulk Bags and Bulk sizes are non-stocked items and will be ordered as needed and carry a several week lead time and require a forklift or pallet jack

Cascade Sciences Cascade 20L Bead Bath with 15L Lab Armor Beads
Cascade 20L Bead Bath Bye-Bye Water Bath! Traditional water baths are associated with messy condensation and the growing of harmful germicides. Cascade Sciences Bead Baths are the next generation of a decades-old lab bath technology. With the included thermal beads, this 20L Cascade Bead Bath operates in a constant, stable, broad temperature range between -80°C to +180°C. The bath itself delivers exceptional temperature uniformity up to 80°C. Zero Evaporation Saves Energy In a water bath, the water is constantly evaporating. As water evaporates, it cools. Because evaporation has a cooling effect, a water bath must heat more frequently. A bead bath uses 4X less energy when set to 65°C and 2X less energy at 37°C. The bead bath also provides more constant temperature with fewer temperature fluctuations during operation. Cascade Sciences Bead Baths and Thermal Beads and Made in the USA and NRTL Certified Cascade Sciences Bead Bath Features: High Thermal Efficiency Microbial/Biofilm Resistant Cross-Contamination Resistant Minimal Cleaning No Refilling No Rack or Accessory Needed Angled Incubation Possible Constant Volume – No Evaporation Non-Corrosive Compatible with non-water tight vessels Independent build-in over-temp, burn-out protection No Warm Up Mobile or Field Use Compatible Non-Combustible Thermal Beads Replace Water and Ice Lab Armor™ Thermal Beads are small, dry, metallic thermal beads designed to replace water in laboratory water baths and ice in ice buckets. Their high thermal conductivity technology is patented and improves energy efficiency of standard water baths by over 50%. Improve lab cleanliness when using thermal beads in place of fluid in water baths. Thermal Beads – Recyclable Lab Armor™ Thermal Beads are formed from solid recyclable metal. The raw material used in Lab Armor™ Beads can be reused in other products. Lab Armor™ Thermal Bead Features: Metal composition with smooth round surface Moisture and gas impermeable High thermal conductivity Working temperature range is -80°C to 180°C Non-toxic, non-vaporizing material Recyclable! Multiple uses – ice replacement Frequently Asked Questions Are Lab Armor™ beads autoclavable? They are not. The steam and pressure ruins the surface of the beads. We recommend a dry heat sterilization: 180°C for 2.5 hours. For a quick touch-up we recommend spritzing with 70% ethanol and stirring. If some debris falls into the beads we recommend placing them in a pail with water and a small about of Dawn, rinsing out multiple times, and then putting through the dry heat sterilization process. How long can I use Lab Armor™ Beads under normal conditions?Under normal conditions, Lab Armor™ Beads should last the life of the bath. If used incorrectly or if not maintained and cleaned properly, the surfaces of Lab Armor™ Beads can become damaged. We recommend that you avoid strong detergents, acids and bases. Bleach, for instance, may tarnish the surface of the Lab Armor™ Beads, reducing its fluidity and overall performance. Can Lab Armor™ Beads be used as an ice bath? There are a number of different ways to use thermal beads. Many customers place containers of beads in their refrigerators, incubators and ovens. When creating an ice bath, be sure to keep the beads dry. We recommend separating the beads from the ice packs, which accumulate condensation. Some kind of mesh wire or fabric helps with this as well. Also, any condensation that builds on the surface of the beads will be able to drip through the mesh. It’s important to keep the beads from soaking in water for extended periods of time. Besides attracting contamination, excessive water contact will tarnish the surface of the Beads and reduce the fluidity of the bath. Also, as an alternative to ice packs, dry ice can be used to make a colder bath (<0ºC).

Log Temperature & Vacuum With Data Port The CVO-10 features a rear mounted data port which outputs a digital log line once per minute. Viewing/logging this data requires terminal emulator software such as the open source (BSD License) emulator Tera Term. Equipped for Inert Gas Backfill. Built-In Safety Relief Introduce inert gasses such as nitrogen, argon, helium, etc. as part of your process via the ¼” rear vent barb. The maximum backfill pressure is 15PSI. In an overpressure situation, a simple, built-in safety relief allows gasses to escape via a spring loaded tempered window. Flexible Pumping / Feedthru Connection Ports For faster evaporation, purging or drying the CVO-10 includes Cascade’s MAX EVAP connection kit. The MAX EVAP connection kit secures to the oven’s rear 1” dia KF-25 port located on the back center of the chamber. The MAX EVAP connection never reduces flow by continuing with 1” diameter vacuum rated clear lines, a 1” dia KF-25 side mounted vacuum valve and KF-25 fittings and hardware. This KF-25 port can also be used to run temperature feedthrus, or monitoring sensors inside the vacuum chamber during processing. Ergonomically Designed, Easy Quarter-Turn Valves For anyone that has struggled with consistently turning the small, round, low-quality vacuum/vent valves, relief is in sight. You will love our large, quarter-turn vent valve. Your wrists will thank you! Faster Venting With Large ½” Diameter Vent Lines For large capacity production environments, time is money. The CVO-10 vacuum oven has larger than industry standard vent lines. ½” diameter vent lines means operators spend less time venting the oven. ANSI Rated Tempered Glass + USA Made Steel Cascade ovens are made in Oregon, USA with high quality materials. Our glass is NGI-USA Tempered and certified to ANSI Z97.1.2007 16CFR / 201 11. Our door handles are rugged brushed steel, not plastic. Our vacuum vessels are constructed with American made steel. We’ve tried lower cost, imported steel. But over time, vacuum chambers made of lesser quality/lower tolerance material cannot withstand the flex and pressure changes of vacuum pumping/venting/purging. This can deteriorate vacuum integrity and the oven will lost its ability to hold vacuum. Need A Complete CVO-10 Vacuum Drying or Purge System? Cascade has taken the guesswork out of pairing the right vacuum oven with the proper pump. We offer two complete 10 cubic foot vacuum oven packages that have everything you need to begin vacuum drying on a large scale. The CVO-10 PRO Package pairs the CVO-10 with the clean, quiet, powerful Agilent IDP15 vacuum pump. Purchase the CVO-10 PRO Package and save $1642.86 over retail. The CVO-5 DOUBLE UP Package offers the same 10 cubic foot processing capacity, but in two ovens for smaller, multiple batch management. The TVO-5 DOUBLE UP Package is also self-contained on its own mobile, industrial cart. The TVO-5 DOUBLE UP Package saves $1642.86 over retail. A Vacuum Cold Trap for High Production Environments For high production environments, adding a vacuum cold trap keeps the vacuum pump running optimally, extends time between maintenance and allows reclamation of outgassed materials. Cascade’s MAXTRAP50 is ideally suited for trapping in these high production environments where typical lab grade traps, with small inlets and outlets can slow things down. We are proud of our ISO 9001 Certification/Accreditation. Each oven completes a series of quality assurance procedures before shipment:Chambers are vacuum tested after welding for vacuum integrityElectrical & mechanical safety is thoroughly tested in compliance with TUV requirementsFunctional testing verifies user settable items consistent with most lab protocols/usage models Temperature verification includes calibration & temp chamber uniformity following ASTM standards Units are cleaned and packed in ISTA tested, certified packaging materials Digital Vacuum Gauge The digital vacuum gauge installed on the CVO-2 is factory default set to read in inches of mercury (“Hg) with a scale of 0 – 29.9”Hg. Change the unit of vacuum measurement to read in a wide variety of units from mmHg, bar psi, kPa, cm2, mmH20. Zero out the vacuum gauge to calibrate for just above sea level adjustments. Equipped for Inert Gas Backfill. Built-In Safety Relief Introduce inert gasses such as nitrogen, argon, helium, etc. as part of your process via the 1/4″ rear vent barb. The maximum backfill pressure is 15psi at the inlet. In an overpressure situation, a simple, built-in safety relief allows gasses to escape via a spring loaded tempered window. Flexible Pumping / Feedthru Connection Ports The CVO-2 ovens offer two different vacuum oven connection points. The standard connection is a 3/8″ dia barb located at the rear of the oven. It is connected to the vacuum valve level on the front control panel. For even faster evaporation, purging or drying consider upgrading to the MAXEVAP connection kit. The MAXEVAP connection kit secures to the oven’s rear 1″ dia KF-25 port located on the back center of the chamber. The MAXEVAP connection never reduces flow by continuing with 1” diameter vacuum rated clear lines, a 1” dia KF-25 side mounted vacuum valve and KF-25 fittings and hardware. This KF-25 port can also be used to run temperature feedthroughs, or monitoring sensors inside the vacuum chamber during processing. Stackable Shelf Design For Maximum Temperature Conduction Under vacuum, there is no air inside a vacuum oven. Temperatures are achieved by a process of conduction and radiation to move temperatures into the product inside the oven. Cascade’s stackable shelf design makes the most of this opportunity by making the chamber longer and narrower, rather than square and supplies stackable shelves in multiple height configurations to allow for the fastest, most uniform transfer of heat. Ergonomically Designed, Easy Quarter-Turn Valves For anyone that has struggled with consistently turning the small, round, low-quality vacuum/vent valves, relief is in sight. You will love our large, quarter-turn vacuum/vent valves. Your wrists will thank you! We’ve tried lower cost, imported steel, but over time, vacuum chambers made of lesser quality/lower tolerance material cannot withstand the flex and pressure changes of vacuum pumping/venting/purging. This can deteriorate vacuum integrity and the oven will lose its ability to hold vacuum. Door Gasket Options – Ideal For Your Process Cascade’s vacuum ovens come standard with a High Temp Silicone Door Gasket. We also offer a Solvent resistent BUNA gasket as well. Ask us about the variety of door gaskets we can supply based on your application: Silicone, BUNA, Viton, Fluorosilicone. Gaskets will eventually wear out. It’s ideal to keep a few spares on hand. Basic vacuum ovens are mass-produced and sold by many large laboratory equipment distributors. But there are key differences between Cascade and other less costly, often imported vacuum ovens. Exceptional Temperature Control & Stability The Cascade CVO-5 uses a unique control logic not found in most lab grade vacuum ovens. The temperature probe is INSIDE the oven, which minimizes temperature overshoot and delivers best-in-class temperature stability and uniformity particularly in the low temperature ranges. Accurate, stable temps throughout the CVO-5 eliminate hot and cold spots, making accurate use of every inch of shelf space. Touchscreen LED Smart Controller The CVO-5 controller is a flat panel touch screen with built-in, controls that minimze temperature overshoot. When the oven door is open, the controller will wait and not agressively call for heat to attempt to keep the oven interior stable. When the oven is being vented, the controller will pause as to not over-react and overshoot temperature during this temporary event. Read Temperature in degrees Celcius or Fahrenheit Read Vacuum in Torr or Inches of Mercury Energize Vacuum Pump From Oven Control Panel Turn the vacuum pump off and on from the oven control panel. No more reaching around, behind, beside to turn the vacuum pump off an on. Vacuum pump plugs directly into the back of the oven’s auxillary outlet. Independent Overtemp Failsafe Protection The Cascade Sciences TVO-5 is equipped with a heating cutoff system that will automatically stop power to the heaters when the oven shelf temps exceed 392°F or 200°C. This protection system will provide peace of mind for overnight processing or unattended vacuum bake outs. Log Temperature & Vacuum With Data Port The TVO-5 features a rear mounted data port which outputs a digital log line once per minute. Viewing/logging this data requires terminal emulator software such as the open source (BSD License) emulator Tera Term. NRTL Certification #U8 170464972 077. No Extra cost. The TVO-5 Vacuum Oven comes certified by the Nationally Recognized Test Lab, TUV. This certification is a requirement by many municipalities and is often an extra charge on low cost ovens. We are proud of our ISO 9001 Certification/Accreditation. Each oven completes a series of quality assurance procedures before shipment. Chambers are vacuum tested after welding for vacuum integrity Electrical & mechanical safety is thoroughly tested in compliance with TUV requirements Functional testing verifies user settable items consistent with most lab protocols/usage models Temperature verification includes calibration & temp chamber uniformity following ASTM standards Units are cleaned and packed in ISTA tested, certified packaging materials Equipped for Inert Gas Backfill. Flexible Pumping / Feedthru Connection Ports The TVO-5 ovens offer two different vacuum oven connection points. The standard connection is a 3/8th dia barb located at the rear of the oven. It is connected to the vacuum valve level on the front control panel. For even faster evaporation, purging or drying consider upgrading to the MAX EVAP connection kit. You will love our large, quarter-turn vacuum/vent valves. Your wrists will thank you! Denatured ethanol, also known as denatured alcohol, is ethanol (ethyl alcohol) that has been rendered unfit for human consumption by the addition of denaturants. Denaturants are typically chemicals that make the ethanol taste bad or have toxic effects, and they are added to discourage people from drinking the substance. The denaturation process is done to avoid the high taxes and regulations associated with beverage alcohol, as denatured ethanol is intended for industrial, pharmaceutical, or cosmetic uses rather than for consumption. Common denaturants include toluene, heptane, methanol, isopropyl alcohol, acetone, and other chemicals. Denatured ethanol is widely used in various industries, such as in the production of paints, solvents, cleaning products, and as a fuel for alcohol burners. Why is Ethanol Denatured? Ethanol is denatured, or rendered undrinkable, for several reasons: Tax Purposes: Denaturing ethanol allows for the imposition of lower taxes on industrial or non-beverage alcohol compared to potable alcohol. Governments often place higher excise taxes on alcohol intended for human consumption. Regulatory Compliance: Denaturing ethanol is a regulatory requirement to discourage the illegal diversion of tax-free industrial alcohol for beverage use. The addition of denaturants makes it unpalatable and unsafe for consumption. Public Safety: Making ethanol undrinkable helps prevent accidental or intentional ingestion of industrial alcohol, which can be toxic. Denaturing agents are chosen to deter people from attempting to use denatured alcohol as a substitute for beverage alcohol. Industrial Use: Denatured ethanol is widely used in various industries, including pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and manufacturing. It serves as a solvent, fuel, or raw material in these applications. Common denaturants include substances like heptane, toluene, methanol, isopropanol, and various chemicals that make the alcohol unsuitable for human consumption while maintaining its usability in industrial processes. The specific denaturing formulations, such as CDA 12-A mentioned earlier, are defined by regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with safety and tax regulations. What is denatured ethanol used for? Denatured ethanol is used for various industrial and commercial purposes where the alcohol is needed for its properties but should not be consumed. Here are some common applications: Industrial Solvent: Denatured ethanol is widely used as a solvent in industries such as pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and manufacturing. It is effective in dissolving a variety of substances. Cleaning Agent: Due to its solvent properties, denatured ethanol is used as a cleaning agent for surfaces, equipment, and machinery in industrial and commercial settings. Fuel Additive: Denatured ethanol is sometimes used as a fuel additive, especially in the blending of gasoline. It can improve combustion efficiency and reduce emissions. Paint and Coating Industry: It is used as a solvent in the formulation of paints, varnishes, and coatings. Pharmaceuticals: Denatured ethanol is used in the pharmaceutical industry for various purposes, including the extraction of medicinal compounds. Laboratory Use: In laboratories, denatured ethanol is often used for tasks like sterilization and as a solvent for experiments. Inks and Dyes: It is employed in the production of inks and dyes due to its ability to dissolve pigments. Adhesives and Sealants: Denatured ethanol is used in the formulation of adhesives and sealants. Window Cleaning: It is used in commercial window cleaning solutions. Automotive Industry: In the automotive industry, denatured ethanol is used for cleaning and degreasing. What can be used to denature ethanol? Here are examples of common Completely Denatured Alcohol (CDA) formulations used to denature ethanol: CDA 12-A To every 100 gallons of alcohol, add either: Five gallons of n-heptane or 5 gallons of toluene. CDA-19 To every 100 gallons of ethyl alcohol (not less than 160 proof), add: 4.0 gallons of either methyl isobutyl ketone, mixed isomers of nitro propane, or methyln-butyl ketone 1.0 gallon of either kerosene, deodorized kerosene, gasoline, unleaded gasoline, rubber hydrocarbon solvent, or heptane. CDA-20 To every 100 gallons of ethyl alcohol (not less than 195 proof), add a total of: 2.0 gallons of either unleaded gasoline, rubber hydrocarbon solvent, kerosene, or deodorized kerosene, or any combination of these. What does CDA mean? Completely Denatured Alcohol (CDA) is a type of denatured alcohol that has been rendered unfit for human consumption by the addition of denaturing agents. Denatured alcohol is ethanol (ethyl alcohol) that has been intentionally adulterated to make it toxic, foul-tasting, or otherwise undrinkable. This denaturing process is done to exempt the alcohol from excise duty and other taxes, as it's not intended for use in beverages. The denaturing agents used in CDA can vary, but they often include chemicals such as methanol, isopropanol, or other substances that make the alcohol unpalatable and potentially harmful if ingested. The specific formulation of denatured alcohol may be regulated by government authorities to ensure it meets safety standards and legal requirements. CDA is commonly used in industrial applications, as a solvent, fuel, or as a cleaning agent. It's important to note that due to the addition of denaturing agents, CDA should not be used for purposes that involve contact with the human body or ingestion. Safety precautions, including proper ventilation, should be followed when working with denatured alcohol. What is CDA 12A? CDA 12-A is a formulation specified by the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) for Completely Denatured Alcohol (CDA). The formula is defined under §21.26 as Formula No. 12-A. The composition of CDA 12-A is as follows: For every 100 gallons of alcohol, add either: 5 gallons of n-heptane or 5 gallons of toluene. This denaturing process renders the ethanol unfit for consumption while meeting regulatory requirements for various industrial applications. CDA formulations, including CDA 12-A, are used to denature ethanol for purposes such as industrial solvents, cleaning agents, and manufacturing processes. Can you remove Toluene from CDA 12A? When toluene is added to ethanol it creates an azeotrope between the ethanol and n-heptane. An azeotrope is defined as a mixture of two liquids that have a constant boiling point and composition through distillation. This azeotrope results in the ethanol and n-heptane evaporating at the same temperature, making it extremely difficult to separate the two through distillation. While these azeotropic solvents are still easily recovered from a botanical extract at a relatively low boiling point around 78C/173F using a rotary evaporator or falling film evaporator, it is near impossible to separate the two via distillation. What is an Azeotrope? An azeotrope is a mixture characterized by having identical concentrations in both its vapor and liquid phases. This stands in contrast to ideal solutions, where one component is usually more volatile than the other, allowing for separation through distillation. When an azeotrope forms, the concentrations in both phases remain the same, hindering separation through traditional distillation methods. Azeotropes consist of a blend of at least two different liquids, and this mixture can exhibit either a higher or lower boiling point than either of its individual components. Azeotropes become relevant when certain liquid fractions resist alteration through distillation processes. In typical mixtures, components can be extracted using Fractional Distillation, a process involving repeated distillation stages. The more volatile component vaporizes and is collected separately, while the less volatile component remains in the distillation container, resulting in two distinct, pure solutions.

Common denaturants include heptane, methanol, isopropyl alcohol, acetone, and other chemicals. Common denaturants include substances like heptane, methanol, isopropanol, and various chemicals that make the alcohol unsuitable for human consumption while maintaining its usability in industrial processes. Here are examples of common Completely Denatured Alcohol (CDA) formulations used to denature ethanol: CDA 12-A To every 100 gallons of alcohol, add either: Five gallons of heptane or 5 gallons of toluene. Can you remove heptane from CDA 12A? When n-Heptane is added to ethanol it creates an azeotrope between the ethanol and n-heptane.
