Borax Pentahydrate 5 Mol contains 5 fewer moles of water, making it more concentrated (approx. 15% boron), while 10 Mol (approx. 11.4% boron) is generally more soluble.  Borax 5 MOL has a wide range of uses because its more concentrated its used as a flux in ceramics, glass, and metallurgical welding, a detergent builder, water softener, agricultural nutrient, fire retardant, and preservative against fungi.
