Description
MPK Methyl Propyl Ketone is a medium evaporating solvent. Its commonly used to dissolve synthetic resins in paints, coatings, adhesives and inks. Compared to MEK, MPK has the slower evaporation rate and lower density which helps prevent solvent trapping. Solvent trapping is when the solvent in the paint doesn't evaporate before the surface "skins" over.
MPK is used in the extraction of oils and fats, offering high solubility for resins and other compounds. The boiling point is ~ 101°C. MPK is used widely in industrial hemp oil extraction.
MPK also known as 2-Pentanone is a clear, flammable liquid with a strong fruity odor.
