Learning About Hydroponics: Air Pumps, Water Pumps, and Reservoir Heaters

, by BVV Team, 2 min reading time

When it comes to hydroponics, some of the most important parts of the system are the water, air pumps, and reservoir heaters. The water and air pumps ensure that plants get the nutrients and oxygen needed to grow and thrive. The reservoir heater is also crucial to regulating the water temperature. Water that is too cold on the roots may shock the plant, make the nutrient uptake hard to accomplish, and stunt the plant’s growth. Curious as to how the hydroponic system works? Here are the different hydroponic parts for the system.

Here are the different hydroponic parts for the system:

Hydroponic Air Pumps

Air pumps for hydroponics are magnetically driven. A spinning impeller forces water to the outsides of the impeller housing through a tube. They can pump large volumes of water through a filtration system in short periods of time and are usually used on larger tanks.magnetically driven. Hydroponic Air Stones

Air stones are connected to the air pump. The stones will provide adequate water circulation, maintaining a proper flow of oxygen to the plants.

Hydroponic Water Pumps

Water pumps are used to move water to the surface from a reservoir tank. This adds aeration to the water. The interaction provides the release of carbon dioxide into the air and the absorption of oxygen into the water.

Hydroponic Reservoir Heater

The reservoir heater is made from a titanium tube that has an internal heater unit. Hydroponic reservoirs are programmable to have a set minimum and maximum temperature. The reservoir heater cuts off once it goes above the maximum and turns on once it’s below the minimum. This component is important for maintaining a consistent temperature in your reservoir heater.

The Benefits of Hydroponics

Hydroponic systems make it easier to grow from virtually anywhere without the hassle, labor, and cost of traditional soil growing. Here’s a look at a few benefits of Hydroponics.

Less Labor & Higher Yield Potential

Say goodbye to traditioning growing methods, such as weeding, tilling, and labor-intensive tasks. Hydroponics is easily manageable and cuts down on cost so that you can focus on other endeavors, potentially leading to higher yields.

Faster Growth Rate

Hydroponic systems are known to experience up to 25% faster plant growth than traditional soil growing. With a faster growth rate, you’ll be able to meet demand more efficiently.
