NEW AND IMPROVED!

Gen6 has removable key/core and comes with all keys.

First of its kind, innovation and performance meet the future of distillation. GEN 6 BERTHA series head is a unique and fascinating technology brought to you first by Summit. Inspired by the original fraction collector technology invented by Summit Research the very first in series years ago was the BIG BERTHA head. GEN 6 is common for compounds that degrade less through distillation. This technology will be a leading standard of the industry. SPD-4 MPD Bertha is made in USA.

The Summit research SPD-4 MPD (modified path distillation) BIG BERTHA is a extremely high vapor fractionation column head.

The first section starts in the flask to retain as much heat in the column as possible. This entire column and entry into flask is isolated from the outside air and the flange fittings. The first chamber is a rough fractionation chamber with a lower rejection section that prevents any condensate from moving upwards.

The center section is a secondary refinement section and will further refine the vapors. The third section is the upper fraction collector. The first dual stage fractionation column to ever be invented or used in distillation glassware, pilot or small scale. The SPD-4 MPD Bertha can achieve excessive liter per hour but tends to sit at 2-4 liters per hour (6 liters per hour with upgraded chilling and vacuum acessories) first pass and ready for crystallization. This unique hardware has a removeable long key, short keyu/well and a well stopper the newest in bertha series now has removeable cores! Vigs are not needed for this technology due to the industry first “no-vig” approach and a baffled section used replace the older approach.

Requirement to use these heads would be a sogevac + dual e2m30 -or- sogevac + e80 -or-  sogevac + e80 + diffusion array. This particular setup benefits from a custom diffusion array and an Apollo Vacuum Controller with the inert gas sweeping feature. Effectively increasing the stock speed and lowering the temperatures further.

SPD-4 MPD Bertha has #34 discharge and inlet port and comes with:

  • 2) PTFE GL14s
  • SPD-4 Stopper Well #34
  • SPD-4 Short Key Well #34
  • SPD-4 Bertha Long Key #34
